Very often there are imaging studies taken at other locations that a clinic might want to have analyzed, or compared to newer images. Though the primary method of sending images to your Radimal dashboard is from a direct connection to your X-ray machine, it's easy to upload images from anywhere. The only requirement is that they must be DICOM .dcm files.
Why DICOM only?
DICOM images contain roughly 10-100x as much visual information as JPEG/GIF or other file formats, making them far superior for visual analysis. DICOM images also contain important patient meta-data, such as acquisition date, that are helpful in the medical process. DICOM was established as a file format by the American College of Radiology (ACR) for use in human medicine in 1985.
You can begin the upload process by clicking the plus button at the top of the 'Images' column.
Then, you can drag&drop, or click to upload .dcm DICOM files, one at a time. If you have several images, you can upload them one after another.
The images will appear in your Radimal dashboard momentarily. If you do not see them, you might want to try searching by patient name.
Important: Moving the images to the correct patient
Often, images taken at different locations will have different Patient IDs. Patient IDs are unique identifiers that are necessary to keep track of which images belong to which patient, and are especially useful in making sure that all studies over time are attached to the same patient history. Patient IDs are shown on the line for each patient.
If the ID for your uploaded images isn't the same as the current Patient ID you're using, click the 'three dots' menu all the way to the right of the newly uploaded images.
You'll now be able to move the newly uploaded images to the correct Patient ID, which will allow you to Combine/Compare and properly track patient images over time.
